WELCOME

Thank you for taking the time to visit Big Nick’s Gift To Our Troops, which is a nonprofit organization started by Bernie and Linda Sullivan of Sandwich, MA, in honor of fallen Marine Cpl. Nicholas Xiarhos.  

Our efforts in the past have included sending out packages to the troops overseas, to help encourage them and make their deployment that much easier. 

The Big Nicks Gift To Our Troops Fund is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.	As of March 2012, we have sent 1,269 packages overseas to our troops.  With your support that number will continue to grow.
The fact that they receive a package, and know that they are thought of and supported for their sacrifice means a great deal to them. Many of our troops do not receive anything from back home. Therefore, whatever is sent their way is all that they receive.  Many have no access to the items they need to buy.
Please remember, in America, we have a volunteer military. These men and women make sacrifices every day so that we can enjoy all the freedoms and securities that they provide us. ONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

The day I was told about the death of Nicholas Xiarhos my heart broke in two for his family’s loss and continues to do so. Nicholas was a brave, strong, wonderful Marine who loved serving his Country. I had always promised his Dad I would send Nicholas a package. I did not. My guilt was weighing very heavily on me. I decided to do something positive about it. I contacted family and friends to start a Holiday collection for our troops in honor of Nicholas. I only expected to send twenty packages at most. I was wrong 171 packages were sent. So many wonderful emails, cards and letter have been received from our troops that I knew I could not stop. Along with my husband Bernie we decided to set up a nonprofit foundation in Nicholas’ name to continue sending packages. I have never been so inspired or as passionate about anything in my life. Every little item one of our troops receives means so much to them. It feels so good to know that a difference is being made in their lives.
